The Séamus Weekly - week 49

Séamus these weeks just keep flying by!! What a week we've had though too.  A full week in Ireland and we're not stopping there!  We still have several more days left here and then off to England we go!  I'll do more detailed posts about our trip, so keep an eye out for those, I'll just be sharing the highlights of Séamus's week here and you'll get a sneak peek into our trip.

Eats: while little man is still on the boob and basically has an open bar all night long thanks to bed sharing he is still quite adventurous with his food.  He is loving all of the breakfast sausages and meat here in Ireland.  He is also a fan of potatoes, bread, and pretty much any berry you put in front of his face.  We are trying our best to have him sitting in a high chair but he is an escape artist and we find ourselves just holding him most of the time.

Sleeps: well Séamus and I are bed sharing and I wasn't too sure what that was going to look like but he's been pretty good about just nursing to sleep.  We do have the time change and super busy days on our side so he isn't totally crazy man trying to hold down to go to sleep...though there have been a couple nights where he has been rallying to stay up.  He is napping a lot in the car seat while we are driving around the Irish countryside and has had his fair share of naps in the Ergo and the stroller

Does: he has tried taking a few steps here and there but I don't think I would classify it as walking quite yet...if he was my first child then absolutely but I know he has a bit to go before we can say that he is "walking".  He is crawling everywhere, climbing into everything he can...especially drawers, why? I'll never know.  He is standing up and really working on his balance skills so that he can start walking for reals.  He is quite squirmy and proving to be a bit of a challenge to hold onto as well.  He loves to laugh, point, and be a part of it all.

Goes: well, lots of places actually.  He has been on his first international and overseas flight from Seattle to Dublin, driven to many locations in Ireland: Trim, Birr, Cashel, Bunratty, Dingle, Killarney, Cobh, and Kilkenny.  We've waited in lots of lines, checked out tons of parks, seen plenty of castles, eaten at a plethora of pubs and restaurants, and have seen our fair share of sheep.

Mama: words cannot express how amazing this trip has been so far.  When we came 5 years ago I dreamt of coming back with all of our kids and getting to see them run and explore and play here.  Most specifically, I remember telling Thomas that when we were in Kilkenny at the castle. And now here we are five years later doing that exact thing.  It is so incredibly special to be here with the girls but also to know how far we have come and to have Séamus here too.  I have loved getting to experience Ireland all over again and to get to check out all of the different parks and to see how much Ireland really loves children.  The people here are so amazing and it's been so fun to see their reactions to Séamus's name and comment on how Irish his name is.  They enjoy Finnley's name as well but are so blown away by Séamus.  It has been so so much fun.  Also, I have absolutely loved nursing on this trip.  It has been so much easier to travel with a baby while nursing than to have to worry about formula, bottles, and sanitizing them.  I am so grateful that I get to breastfeed and that I get to experience it.

Sisters:  They are loving this trip so much.  The car rides have actually been fairly pleasant and they are all about the parks and all the ice cream we keep getting.  Ellie keeps exclaiming that this is her second time in Ireland but only Finnley and Séamus's first trip.  They are all getting along quite well and their love for each other continues on.  They are also loving having their cousins and Nanny and Papa here with us as well and it is so special to get to experience this with them.
